(David Ljung Madison) Date: Thu Dec 21 19:58:47 2006 Subject: [Album-announce] New Themes, new simmer_theme Message-ID: I've just released a new theme package. Of note: PaperBook A beautiful new theme by Laura Baldwin. Uses different sized corners for thumbnails/images. W_Peterman Now stretches (mostly) properly for different sized thumbnails. Slides_CSS Small path bugfix Theme builders may also want to grab v3.02 of simmer_theme which has support for the different sized corners as well as other changes. (A few other tools and other miscellany were also updated...) Message-ID: Album v3.10 is finally ready for testing! There are *MANY* improvements to the code, most of which will initially be transparent but will answer many requests I've had. http://MarginalHacks.com/bin/album.versions/album-3.10b0 The full changelog is up at: http://MarginalHacks.com/Hacks/album/CHANGELOG.html Most importantly, the code for plugins is here, as well as code for overlay themes, which are very cool. For an overlay example, see: http://63.204.157.4/localhost/OverTest/album/ The "random" scratches you see on the thumbnail and medium images are actually CSS PNG transparent overlays and not part of the actual images. You can grab a copy of the theme at: http://MarginalHacks.com/Hacks/album/Themes/OldPhoto.tar.gz I still need to writeup the docs for plugins, but you can try to monkey with the plugin options using a few sample plugins: http://MarginalHacks.com/bin/album.versions/plugins-3.10b.tar.gz Again, here is the script, please play with it: http://MarginalHacks.com/bin/album.versions/album-3.10b0 I'll be writing plugin docs and a few more sample plugins soon. Feedback appreciated! We're almost there, soon users will be able to write and submit plugins, and you'll be able to handle most of your feature requests yourself! (Making my life easier, of course :) Dave --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Ljung Madison http://GetDave.com/ 415 341-5555 ------------ "Preferred over shiny round objects 2-to-1" ------------------ From album-author@D... (David Ljung Madison) Date: Thu Dec 21 19:58:47 2006 Subject: [Album-announce] Album v3.10 Message-ID: After much waiting, album v3.10 is finally released. Highlights: + Plugin support! + Up to 10x faster album re-generation! (using Image::Size) + Image overlay support! (See new theme 'OldPhoto' for example) + Utility for moving images from one album to another (plugin: utils/mv) The installation process had to change for plugins, please let me know if you see any problems. If you are installing from the tar or zip, you WILL NEED to run: % album -configure The first time (preferably as root), or else plugin support will not work. Plugin docs are available at: http://MarginalHacks.com/Hacks/album/Docs/Section_8.html OldPhoto example available at: http://DavePics.com/Examples/2002-08-28.Burning_Man/OldPhoto.html I'd love to see some more overlay examples!
